As the only elementary school in Rosetown, Walter Aseltine Elementary School strives for individual achievement in a safe and caring environment. Walter Aseltine is a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school with a student population of 260 and 26 teachers and support staff. There are 16 classrooms, a library, theatre, gym and a playground. This environment encourages the development and learning of each student.
Walter Aseltine has regular and special needs programming and extra-curricular opportunities to encourage individual achievement. The Fast Forward Program uses computer based activities and games to improve a Kindergarten student's reading readiness, attention and organization, thinking and focus, and foundation for reading instruction. The DARE program educates students on self-esteem and peer pressure issues related to drugs, smoking, and alcohol. Walter Aseltine participated in the "In Motion" program through 30 minutes of activities after lunch every school day.
